What service does Busy Bee Diaper Service provide?

We provide weekly delivery of clean diapers to your door and take your dirty ones to clean. We also carry additional items related to cloth diapering which you may purchase to aid you in having a successful cloth diapering experience.

What does it cost?

You pay based on the number of diapers you order each week. For a breakdown of cost and for information on our starter kits check out our Prices page.

How do I pay for the diaper service?

Currently we only accept checks, cash, or money order. You will receive a monthly invoice which will come  before your next month's service. Your invoice will include any add-ons that you have purchased within the past month. You can receive your invoice by either paper or email. Your payment is due 14 days after receiving your invoice. You can make your payment by either mailing a check or money order, leaving a check in an envelope with your soiled diapers, or paying cash in person. You must contact us in advance to arrange for cash payments.

Is it really affordable?

Yes, when compared to top brand disposable diapers, cloth diapers are cheaper. Below is a breakdown of cost for 3 years spent in disposable diapers and 2.5 spent in cloth diapers. These numbers are based on national averages. Some children potty train earlier than others.

Total of 36 months
34 cents per diaper
x 9 diapers a day
= $3,350
Total of 30 months
26 cents per diaper
x 9 diapers a day
= $1970

   Savings using our service: $1380

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes, we offer a multiple child discount. There is a 10% discount for your second child in diapers and 15% discount for your third. When you refer someone to us, and they sign up for service, you receive a free week of service.

How many diapers do I need?

Below is a chart of the average weekly diaper use by age. Remember every baby is different and some may need more or less.

Newborns -  3 months: 70 diapers

 3 months - 6 months: 60 diapers

6 months - 18 months: 50 diapers

18 months - potty trained: 40 diapers

What if I need more diapers or fewer diapers?

If you find that you are needing more diapers or fewer diapers each week, contact us at least 3 days before your delivery date, and we will make a change to your order.

What do I do with the dirty diapers?

All you need to do is dump any solid waste in the toilet and place the diaper in the pail.  You do not need to rinse the diaper as this can cause stains to set in.

What happens if I miss my delivery day?

We all have hectic lives and sometimes forget things. If this happens, your clean diapers will still be delivered. Simply contact us to arrange an alternate pick up time. Due to the current gas prices, we limit alternate pick up to two times per six months. Any additional alternate pick ups within the six month period will incur a $10 pick-up fee. Rest assured, we will attempt to see if you are home, before driving away empty handed, to ensure your dirty diapers get on their way to be cleaned.

What do I do if I am out running errands or am away from home?

If you have wet bag, you can simply place the soiled diaper here. We offer wet bags in our Honey Bee Starter Kit and will be offering them as an add-on to purchase individually soon. Otherwise, you can use a recycled grocery bag. You may want to double or triple bag the recycled grocery bag to contain the possible odors caused by diapers. Remember, if there is any solid waste, dump it in a public toilet if possible.

I am going on vacation, what should I do?

If you are planning a vacation, please inform us one week in advance of your intentions. If you do not want diapers for your trip, your account will be placed on hold, all soiled diapers will be picked up, and all clean ones will be delivered at the time of your return. If you do want diapers for your trip, we will deliver the numbers of diapers needed to get you through your time away, pick up your soiled diapers, and resume regular pick up when you return. You will be charged based on the numbers you have taken for the amount of time you are gone as normal.

Help! My diaper pail stinks! What do I do?

Considering the pail holds soiled diapers all the time, this is a common problem. Don't worry though; it is easy to fix. Follow any of these three steps to aid in solving your problem:

                - Sprinkle baking soda on the soiled diapers and at the bottom of the pail.                     Don't worry the baking soda won't damage the the diapers.

                - Place a few drops of essential oils, such as lavender, in the pail.

                - Wash the pail with warm soap and water periodically.

                - Replace your deodorizer disk every month. We provide one for you with                      your monthly bill.

If you follow these simple steps, you can prevent your pail from creating an unpleasant odor.

Do cloth diapers heighten the risk of diaper rash?

Regardless of what kind of diaper you use a baby can develop diaper rash. The difference is with cloth diapers the baby and you will know when wetness occurs sooner than with the super absorbent disposable diapers. The sooner you know the baby is soiled, the less time one is spent in bacteria ridden urine. Remember the average infant needs to be changed every two - three hours, although this varies from child to child based on feedings, health conditions, age, etc.

How do I prevent diaper rash and leakage at night?

If you are worried about diaper rash at night, you can always place a little diaper cream on your baby's bottom prior to night time and use a doubler or extra diaper to add any extra absorbency. We recommend using California Baby or Burt's Bee diaper cream if you are looking for natural diaper products.

What constitutes a diaper being unusable?

A cloth diaper is no longer usable when it fails to absorb the smallest amount of wetness. DO make sure to double check the diaper is placed on correctly and the cover securely over the diaper before worrying that it has failed to remain absorbent as incorrect folding and placement can lead to leakage. We will stop delivering diapers that are frayed, holed, or badly stained. If you are using your own diapers, a well cleaned, stained diaper can still be used as a diaper.Once a diaper ceases to be usable as a diaper, they become great kitchen rags.

What if I already have my own diapers?

We offer pick up and cleaning for those with their own diapers for $12 per week. Pick up and cleaning will operate on the same weekly basis as the rental service. Please make sure you have enough diapers to cover your baby for two weeks as we will be cleaning one week's worth of diapers while you are using another week's.

How do I change my order?

If you need to make any changes to your order, whether it is in diaper number, add-ons, or address changes, simply contact us at least three days prior to your delivery day. This will allow us plenty of time to make the accommodations needed to ensure your needs are successfully met.

How do I cancel my service?

When your child is potty trained, you move away, or you no longer need Busy Bee Diaper service, you will need to call three days in advance to cancel your normal delivery. On your regular pick up day, we will collect all soiled and clean diapers, your rental diaper covers, liners, and pail. A per-diaper fee will be add to your account for all diapers you keep or destroy. We will do a final count to determine how many are missing or unusable.
